What is
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

Originally developed in 1960 as a surgical anesthetic, Ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic, has since been utilized off-label for mental health conditions. Its notable rapid and potent antidepressant effects extend to treatment-resistant patients where other interventions have failed. Ketamine administration fosters enhanced neuroplasticity, rendering individuals more receptive to environmental stimuli.

Ketamine’s influence can induce altered states of consciousness, facilitating a heightened receptivity to psychotherapeutic insights. Integrating psychotherapy is essential as it enhances the therapeutic outcome, surpassing the effects of ketamine alone.

Under the guidance of a skilled professional, individuals engage in introspective reflection, emotional analysis, and meaningful dialogues often resulting in profound realizations, emotional release, and potentially transformative experiences.

Psychedelic Integration

Psychedelics have the potential to catalyze profound personal growth, healing, and transformation. Psychedelic journeys can be incredibly powerful and transformative experiences, but they can also be challenging and disorienting. Psychedelic integration helps people to ground themselves and to incorporate the insights that arise during Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy or other psychedelic experiences into daily life. It is a crucial part of the psychedelic healing process. Without integration, the potential benefits of a psychedelic experience can fade, leaving the individual with unprocessed emotions and unapplied insights.

Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy at Recovery Without Walls

At Recovery Without Walls, Ketamine is administered via intramuscular injection (IM) within our office premises. Throughout the session, patients receive vigilant monitoring from medical staff to ensure their safety and comfort. Guided by trained therapists, the medicine session facilitates exploration of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, allowing new insights to emerge during the altered state of consciousness. Following a KAP session, patients are scheduled for an integration session with a therapist. This session helps individuals integrate the acquired insights into their daily lives and develop effective coping strategies to manage their symptoms.

Group Experiential
Ketamine-Assisted Therapy

In addition to individual therapy sessions, our practice provides group experiential training opportunities. These sessions are designed to foster a supportive and collaborative environment where participants can engage in shared experiences aimed at personal growth and development. Led by skilled facilitators, group members have the opportunity to explore various therapeutic techniques, engage in interactive exercises, and receive feedback from peers. Through these group experiences, individuals can gain valuable insights, build meaningful connections with others, and develop important skills for navigating life's challenges. Group experiential training offers a unique opportunity for individuals to learn from one another, enhance self-awareness, and cultivate a sense of community and belonging.

Dealing with Adverse Psychedelic Events

Managing adverse events resulting from unsafe psychedelic experiences involves addressing a range of potential challenges. While some may perceive difficulties as spiritual emergencies, others may experience new psychiatric issues that necessitate short-term medication intervention.

A percentage of individuals may encounter post-trip difficulties, manifesting as physical or psychological symptoms impacting daily functioning. Providing support for these individuals is complex, as their needs vary widely. Some may seek therapeutic guidance with a spiritual approach, while others may prefer secular therapy or medication to address emotional dysregulation, sleep disturbances, or post-psychedelic psychosis.

Our highly trained practitioners possess extensive expertise in navigating non-ordinary states of consciousness. They offer invaluable support and safety measures throughout psychedelic experiences and beyond, ensuring individuals receive appropriate care tailored to their unique needs.
