Chronic Pain Treatment

Evidence-Informed Medical Treatment for Chronic Pain

Millions of Americans suffer from chronic pain that persists longer than six months. When an individual has chronic pain, pain signals can remain active in the brain and nervous system for weeks, months or even years. This can take both a physical and emotional toll. Unfortunately, chronic pain sometimes leads to an addiction to drugs or alcohol.

Dr. Howard Kornfeld, a nationally recognized physician and pain management specialist, has helped hundreds of people deal more effectively with chronic pain. At Recovery Without Walls, Dr. Kornfeld, Inna Zelikman, and Dr. Ciccarone design a personalized program for each patient, utilizing the latest research on advanced pharmacology, exceptional psychotherapy, and integrative healing methods. Recovery Without Walls has helped patients suffering from: back pain, fibromyalgia, neuropathic (nerve) pain, cancer pain, arthritis, and many other chronic pain conditions.

Our Integrative Approach

Anxiety, stress, depression, anger, and fatigue interact in complex ways with chronic pain and may decrease the body’s production of endorphins and other natural painkillers. For that reason, the Recovery Without Walls pain management program incorporates pain management therapy, meditation, acupuncture, therapeutic massage, and nutritional supplements as appropriate. A Pioneer in the Use of Buprenorphine/Suboxone

Dr. Kornfeld has pioneered the use of buprenorphine/Suboxone in the United States for the relief of chronic pain. A semi-synthetic opiate created in England in the late 1960s, buprenorphine has been proven to provide better pain dampening effects than Vicodin or OxyContin, while minimizing the possibility of overdose and addiction. When appropriate for his patients, Dr. Kornfeld prescribes buprenorphine to help them deal more effectively with chronic pain. Read more about buprenorphine.
